Thanked: 0Salutations from Singapore
Hi all. My name is Conrad, reside in Singapore and i've been introduced to Wet Shaving scene a year ago at a local retailer. I've since thrown away my Gillette multi cartridges and have been wet shaving using a DE safety razor.
My daily shave equipment :
-Edwin Jagger DE razor
-Truefitt & Hill pre-shave oil
-Rotation of a few silvertip badger brush (Chubby3/Savile Row 3330/Shavemac D01/QED Select Silvertip)
-rotation of soap & cream (currently trying out different cream samplers)
-Truefitt & Hill 1805 Aftershave
recently, i purchased the following to try my hand at straight shaving :
-Boker Edelweiss str8
-Walkin' Horse 2.5mm English Bridle Leather Hanging Strops
As a str8 shaving noob, my strobbing skills sucked and my first shave was far from pleasant.
So hopefully i can consult with experts here on certain aspects of my shave.
Meantime, here are some photos and videos I took of my wet shaving equipment. You are welcomed to view them,

Greetings sir,
welcome to SRP and real shaving. My guess would be part stropping but mainly a dull razor. Factory new blades are rarely truly sharp for shaving. since you seem to have the lathering going well from you DE experience. your next focus should be on obtaining an expertly honed razor. often they are not expensive unlesss you want them fancy. but a sharp fancy razor or a sharp ugly razor both will shave you well.
i'm not sure if we have other members in singapore but there are some in japan, nz, australia that might be able to help you find honing services closer to your home.
enjoy,
jimBe just and fear not.

Thanked: 993Welcome to SRP! That's a pretty nice set-up.
Was your razor sold as "shave ready"? That would be the first variable I would tackle.

Thanked: 0Thanks for the advise guys. @Maxi - the razor was assured by Jarrod of SuperiorShave that it will be honed by him before sending out to me; unless he was bluffing me. :\

Thanked: 0My blade couldn't even pass the hanging hair test. It succeeded 2 times out of the 10 attempts I tried. And I could feel lots of resistance out of the 2 successful attempts.

Welcome to the forum. The above link has several long standing members advice on the HHT, as it relates to you, the brand new straight razor shaver. Jarrod hones about a million blades a day, as I understand it. Not likely he bluffed you.
