Thanked: 0Another Montrealer on the site!
Hi!
Just joined the forum after reading quite a few posts. Lots of good information in here. So, just to introduce myself, my gear up to now is:
Dovo Astrale (2 shaves until now)
and waiting for:
Naniwa Super Stone 8000 and 12000 and flattening stone
I can say that I haven't cut myself during my first 2 attempts, which goes to show that my father is actually quite good in showing me the techniques.
I am using also an old strop but it is time to get a new one so I was wondering if something like Leather Straight Razor Strop, Black Latigo, 3" Wide x 28" Long, "Big Daddy" | eBay is doing the trick.
Anyways, Hi to everyone et surtout au monde de Montreal!

Hello,
and welcome. Good to hear that your father can advise you. This place is the source. You can find here anything you need to know about straight razors.
I have never used a Latigo, so I can not say anything about it. You can find more info in the Strops forum.
I have a Dovo 6/8 and Naniwa stones. Someone has said here that it is the best man-made stone. And Dovo is one of the best brand.
Good luck.

Thanked: 993Welcome to SRP!
I havent used a bid daddy strop, but I've read that people do like them. For my stropping, I used a variety of them from Straight Razor Designs. They have many banners on this site, so you can click one of them to jump over to their store.
Good luck, and it's great to have someone like your dad so close who can help with all this stuff!
