Hello from Canada / Bonjour de Canada
Hello,
I am from Canada and just getting into straight razor shaving. I started looking into the 8 years ago when I switched from my Gilette Mach 3 to a Excel and found a big difference. I've wanted to do straight shaving since I can remember and finally have gotten the courage to start.
I am shaving with a Dovo faux tortoise special, a board strop, derby shave soap and ofcourse a badger brush. I got 2 shaves under my belt now. I will admit my first shave I did my entire face... not the smartest move on my part as I ended up with a few cuts requiring a septic pen. Now I am following the beginner advice by Lynn and doing a part of my face at a time, going really well. Just need to work on that stropping technique.
Anyways I have been reviewing content on this site for a few weeks now and all I can say is WOW! This resource as well as Phil at classicedge.ca have steered me in the right direction.
Thanks and I look forward to continue reading and learning about the art of straight shaving.

Oops it was called a septic on the site I bought it from. I'll send them an email so noobies like me don't get confused.
Any members on the east coast? I found a barber shop in Whitney pier (outside sydney) that does straight shaves for 15 bucks - Bordens barber shop in operation since 1901 or something. Also found out my grandfather usto go there so what a great experience to find out he usto go there and they remember him.
Thanks everyone for offering help I have a feeling I'll need it soonLast edited by macinnisl; 03-15-2012 at 02:30 PM.
