Long time lurker, just joined up. Ordered my kit from Larry at whippeddog.com and off I went. I'm three shaves in now and still trying to figure everything out.

"Stroppings easy, there's not much to it" . . . wish I were right
"I won't nick my strop, I'll be extra careful" . . . uhhh, fail.
"This will be easy, I already know how to shave with DE" . . . yeah, right

Why didn't I actually listen to all the things mentioned in the beginner's wiki

I just have to remember that its a learned skill that takes time. Learning and loving it everyday.

Yeah, I'm right there with you. I nicked my strop several times within seconds of starting, even though I spent hours watching videos and reading how-tos. I also shaved without getting my razor honed because I was too impatient.

We'll figure this out.
