Default New here but have lurked in the past.

Wanted to introduce myself. I've been in here before looking around for information and thought I'd join since I stop in here many times. I'm not a collector of razors for the most part but have a few. I have been coming across more and more in the last year or so and for the most part try and get them to those who appreciate them more than I do. This forum has been very helpful in the aspect of getting information on some of the razors I have acquired and I appreciate that very much. I do a lot of estate work which is where I come across a lot of the things I have collected and those that I sell to others. I didn't sign up in order to boost sales so I won't list my ebay name at this point but I wanted everyone to know that so if I ask questions it is because I am not an expert and I want to get the correct information out there for those interested in the items I may be offering for sale. I pride myself on being as accurate as possible but again I'm not an expert as many of you here are. An example of this is up until a week or so ago I didn't even know how to answer a question about the grind of a razor I had on ebay. You guys in here helped me answer that question with the vast info and chart you have. Thanks again! I do have a profound respect for things of the past and could easily collect them all if I could afford it. My mid to late 1800's bottle collection is growing rather quickly and I haven't yet gotten the razor bug but my wife seems to think I have since she is seeing more and more of them around the house.

Anyhow.....I appreciate what you have going here and look forward to interacting in the future.

Welcome to SRP. I've been buying on Ebay for over 10 years, but I am brand new on the selling end.

I've found the biggest selling point for success is honesty and decent pictures of what you are selling. I've watched great pieces sell for pennies when they should have brought real money but someone listed them in a "wrong category" or simply had a poor listing. I'm not the greatest but I'm learning and having fun along the way. I've even bought some of those poor listings in the past and resold them for a nice profit. It does pay to watch sometimes. This razor deal is interesting to say the least. A few years back I used to toss them in the trash and think nothing of it. Little did I know how sought after some of them actually were. As I said it is now my mission to get things that I don't collect to those that do and to those that appreciate them. Putting a few dollars in my daughters college fund along the way is just a little bonus. I joking say that I'm building her education fund 99 cents at a time.

Now see I learned something yet again today. One of the razors I have on ebay currently a bidder asked me to send pictures of the grind yet again. I did so and they seemed ecstatic in their reply. Didn't realize individuals were after different grind styles so much as they were the razor and scales themselves but in this case "true wedge" seems to be what he was after.

Welcome to SRP & thank you for not listing your eBay name. This site is all about information for members & very little about marketing.
Have a good look at the rules re sales & adverting etc. & you'll see things are quite restrictive, especially for new members. Nonetheless hope the bug bites you & you take up the straight. Sounds like you have a few on hand.

I'm a moderator on a news forum so I try and be aware and respectful when entering someone's playground if you know what I mean. We tag and bag spammers and solicitors all the time. Don't get me wrong if someone see's something I'm selling on ebay and I see them comment here I may chime in but I'm not here to promote that. I sell all kinds of old and quirky things and razors just happen to be coming around more often for me lately. Thanks for the welcome and I'm sure I'll enjoy the place.

I have to say I do like the email notification when someone posts replies. We don't have that on the forum I mod set to on. It's probably a good thing though since some threads get hundreds of replies daily and it would drive me up a wall.
