Thanked: 0Hi from Sydney, Australia
My name is Steve. I am new to the world of straight razor shaving. I am going to stick with this for as long as I can. I can't believe I didn't do this years ago. To think of the money and crappy shavers I've put up with for years! I ordered a Dovo forestal which will arrive tomorrow. I'm hoping to get Oz, on the forum, to hone it first for me. Anyways, I hope to glean more information as I learn to do this art.
cheers

Thanked: 334Greetings, Steve, and Welcome to SRP! I see some of SRP's most knowledgeable and respected Australia contingent have welcomed you -- you're indeed fortunate. When your razor arrives, post some pics of it for us, along with your other gear (if you have the equipment to do so). See you in the trenches, buddy!

Thanked: 485Welcome! Like has been said, you made a good choice re the honing; at least that way you can negate that reason when things go wrong; which they will. But the good news is that everyone here will help out when things go wrong. Even when shaving with a straight was common; I can't at all imagine there were ever imaging a bunch of guys TALKING about it so much, unless it was at the barber shop...
