Thanked: 443Hello, Jak (everyone remember Jak? This was his thread until it got, heh, heh... hijacked.)
I won't be surprised if your first shave is unpleasant; most commercial knife sharpeners don't do good jobs on straight razors. It's nice that they took off some rust and dings; I hope they didn't mess up the blade's geometry in the process. Read The straight razor in our wiki, and I hope my mention of the geometry makes sense. If the sharpener moved the edge closer to the spine without reducing the spine's width, as a normal honing would do, then the geometry has been shifted. Possibly not a crisis, but you'll want a real razor honer to look at it and have a go with some proper hones.
Best wishes to you, and I hope your gear works out."These aren't the droids you're looking for." "These aren't the droids we're looking for." "He can go about his business." "You can go about your business."

Thanked: 1Hahah Parker and Maples it's completely and 100 percent fine, if anything I enjoyed reading through your convo and laughing to myself. All i can say is you guys are legends I went to Wal Mart and got the Van Der Hagen starting set, It was $8.57 for the brush, soap and bowl, and $1.37 for an extra thing of soap, so much less than I thought it would be. I'm going to wait til tomorrow morning to shave and i'll post back again at that time. Roughkype, I appreciate the help, they did a good job sharpening it but Yes I do think they changed the angle of the edge just a bit, I got a PM from a fellow Utahan who says he'll help me out with honing and stropping, so hopefully he'll know his business with Honing and be able to help me set things straight! thanks again to everyone for the help. We'll see how this next shave goes

Thanked: 334Jak:
I'm glad the info I gave you was incorrect on the price! But then I'm in MI right now, and I should've expected some price differential, if only for the state sales tax.
You're right, Parker and I are legends, but for differing reasons. He's one here because of his youth, and me for my wit.
Please give us an update sometime tomorrow on how things work out -- I've invested some time in you, and I'm genuinely curious!
