Thanked: 0Greetings from the Okanagan, BC Canada!
Hello all!
I am an absolute newb with straight razors; an apprentice.
... and here i am, about to delve into the dark side of straight razor shaving; i look forward to it.
i was really amused by this guys' video here: Straight Razor Shave Demonstration - A Quick and Easy "Watch and Then Try it at Home!" Tutorial - YouTube
just ordered a Dovo razor and strop online, and really look forward to a REAL shave.
i also look forward to all the knowledge that this forum will provide with my new "path".
cheers all.

That's a cool video. You know, even though I've shaved with a straight almost every day for a year, watching videos of guys shaving with a straight still gives me shivers up the spine. You know those shows of the funniest home videos where people fall of swings and stuff? And there's the guy riding a bike and he falls on the cross bar and crushes his balls? That shiver you get up the spine? Same as that.
Stranger, if you passing meet me and desire to speak to me, why should you not speak to me? And why should I not speak to you?

I suggest reading the Beginner's section of the Wiki ("Library"?) before you actually attempt using the Dovo. And for sure, do it before you use the strop.
There's lots of 'gotchas', and some of them can be painful to you and the equipment.
