New Aussie
Hi guys, as the title says I'm a new Australian joining SRP. Been lurking around the forum doing my research prior to taking the plunge to straight blades, however now that I am a user I figured I would join the community.
Guess I should start with an intro of myself and I will give you an insight into my experience thus far.
G'day my name is Luke - 24 yo Brisbane born and bread. I started DE shaving Probably about 5 years ago due to being in the military and being required to be clean shaven every day meant I was in search for something a little better than those face hackers you buy at grocery stores. I found DE's did a great job but always had a love for SE. Long story short I got around to buying 4 old SE's off the bay and searched for someone to hone them. Enter SRP, and more particular Oz. Found out he was the man for the job so I sent them off to him for sharpening … Man does he do a good job! Great advice and service. Thanks mate!
So with my new sharp blade I started shaving. (I must admit I had practiced both shaving and stropping prior to being sharp, so I had a basic muscle memory skill set ). First shave was a dream! The edge was smooth and just glided over lather … Amazing! So much so that the DE has now been given the flick and the SE is now my daily razor. In fact I have not picked up my DE since. No nicks thus far and pretty happy. I know I still have tones to learn and I have attempted an xtg pass once so far with average results … All in all great fun! And I will upload some shots of my razor once I get home!
Thanks again to Oz for a great edge!

Thanked: 1587Welcome to SRP! Lots of Aussies on here, lots of fellow Brisbanites, and even a few Ipswichians if I am not mistaken. I am sure they will all be along to give you a warm welcome before too long. Hope you enjoy the community.

Welcome to SRP Luke. Great bunch here & more info than you'll ever need.

G'Day Luke and welcome to SRP from an Ipswichian (well nearly)
If there is anything I can do to help, shoot me a PM.
I did 17 years in the Army as well so there could be some shared experiences there somewhere.
GeoffHang on and enjoy the ride...

Geez, this place is starting to look like Hollywood! You can't swing a dead cat around here without hitting an Aussie! Must be something in the water down there?.. Well, if you can't beat 'em, might as well join them! Welcome! Some of the best Soldiers I have worked on the planet are the Aussie's by the way! Love to see the fellow vets!
