    There's nothing wrong with the SRD starter sets.

    If money is really tight, you can get a usable, honed vintage straight from either:

    Whipped Dog Straight Razor Shaving Equipment

    or the "classifieds" on this website. Whipped Dog has a "Poor Man's Strop Kit" which is a good deal, too.

    Unlike eBay, the razors from those two sources are pretty reliable. What you _don't_ want to do is get a razor that needs honing -- that opens up a whole new, big can of worms.
