If you shaved with a factory ka-bar edge you either lucked out big time compared to me, you prepped with Nair, or ???

Yeah, I'll be giving this a miss.
do you own a military issue one or the crap they sell online? the difference is like comparing a dollar store swiss army knife and a custom made knife, as for all the disbelief, It's how I arrived at the conclusion that a straight razor is for me. Whether you believe it or not doesnt matter, it happened and was meant as self depricating humor because you have to be kinda dumb to try this in the first place. See above post where it was initially defined as torture, AND I DIDNT STOP. I only prepped more and tried again. nor did I say it was an efficient method I merely stated I had good results, however much time it took, which wasn't funny so was not included.

Boots, I've never seen Swiss Army Knives in Dollar stores. The one you referenced was $22.00 & a small one. Actually the Swiss Army knives are great quality, they are not crap. A Ka-Bar ( I own several original ones) are not custom knives. I can hone razors, but still do not believe the Ka Bar shave, not calling you a liar, just think you've been hitting the Egg Nog a few months early.

I suspect you are about to be eaten by a Big Cat.

I am very excited about starting to shave with a straight razor (properly). I have been researching this online for a while because I couldn't even find a barber in my area that used one after my usual barber retired. I played with the Idea for years never willing to spend the upfront capital for a grooming tool I may not enjoy, that is until today. Now I preface the story of my day with a warning, do not try this at home as I probably shouldn't have in the first place. I was contemplating the scene in several movies where you see the action hero shaving with a Bowie knife. I have a Ka-Bar. What could go wrong?? well as it happened, nothing. the research I had done for shaving with a straight razor paid off and I only ended up with one nick and it was so minor it went away after a pinch. The unexpected side-effect was that I had an extremely close shave never achieved with any disposable not to mention the blasphemy of an electric razor. So now I am completely focused on purchasing the right tools and I am exited to join a community that shares my passion for a smooth face!
Yep tried that myself it worked for a servicable shave.A straight razor gives a much smoother shave, but in a pinch on a camping trip a knife will work if your face is that itchy!

Ok first, they dont sell "real" swiss army knifes in dollar stores they are that style of knife. I ment no disrespect to the swiss. where did I reference any specific knife ka bar or swiss? next it was for purposes of comparison that I used these two items, a Ka-bar is a brand hence cannot be a custom knife. Lastly how did you know my cat was going to eat me? that was impressive prescience.
Well Gents It has been an interesting experiance, but I dont think I will follow this thread anymore. What was intended to be funny has devolved into an argument that no one can win because I didnt have the forthought to take pictures while shaving (who knew that could be a thing?) but I will seek my entertainment eslewhere for now, thanks to doughboy68, Sharptonn and edwardd for the informative posts!

Kinda like someone walking into a bar and spouting off the most provocative thought without taking time to listen to the conversation.

BOOTS we don't want you to leave just give yourself and the rest of us time to get to the same page.

I am not leaving SRP just this thread. I am not offended or anything, it just seems pointless to argue. I will seek my entertainment elswhere on this site may have been a better way to phrase that... sorry for the miscommunication, that would be my bad.
