Thanked: 0Hello from tornado alley
What a great site you all have here! I just finished reading the beginner's tips series and have been looking at the classifieds. I have yet to look through the forum itself. I figured I'd introduce myself here first since this seems logical?
I come from a blade and firearm background. The gun hobby has relaxed a bit as of late- as monies have dwindled in this economy. I started getting frustrated at the cost of disposable razors and decided to look into other options. Low and behold I found this new world. So, I've been reading quite a bit this weekend and have really enjoyed looking through potential cheap (brand named) ebay acquisitions and high quality customs (billysblades.com).
Yes... yes.. I know the common ebay theme is to stay away from them for the first six months. But, I'm a collector naturally and I'm not opposed to getting my hands on some old vintage blades just for the sake of collecting. Plus, if I ever want to take up honing, I'd have something to practice with? Also, the old razors just look cool.
At this point, I do believe that my interests will probably reside in the restoration elk? I love to tinker with things and make them new again. My only problem is getting things sharp. I've never really learned the art. So, I'm hoping I might be able to learn a few things with my time here. Heck, I might even find that shaving with a SR will become a daily habit too?
Anyways, cheers!

Welcome to the forum!
With the prices of ammo and guns going forever up, I am starting to believe that it will not be long before it'll no longer be an American right of passage - but rather, one for those "who can" only.
I am sure you will enjoy your new hobby! See you on the forums.David

Once you start 'collecting' the bug will getcha! Sooner or later you are going to want to put one of those beauties to you cheek, and you will be hooked, but good. Sooooooooo, ya might as well get one shave ready and have a go sooner.
Welcome. Tons of information on the site, and even more in the heads of the members, so don't hesitate to ask questions, and come back often.Any day on this side of the flowers is a good day!
