Yeah - I did a search. "Etymology" and "Oz" does't come up with much other than it's slang, and the label on the bottom drawer on a filing cabinet lol. O-Z

Canada and Chinook? That's a terribly theory!
Welcome Bongo! As has been said your fellow Aussies are thick on the ground here, so you should have no trouble finding a local to help you out, mentor, etc. So pull up a chair, read lots (there is a TON of info here!) and when you have questions, ask away. You will probably not be surprised to find out that we love talking about anything to do with these razor thingies.
Good luck!
It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.

Thanked: 983Australia/n shortened to Aussie (With the double 'ss' sound in Australian accent coming out with a 'zzz' sound). So when we see the abbreviation, Aus/t, we think Aussie and move on to abbreviating that (in the typical Australian way of abbreviating everything) to Oz.

Hello from Oz
Welcome from Oz
The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.
