Thanked: 0Hello From Canada
Hello everyone,
I am looking to get my first straight razor and this site was recommended to me for advice. I recently bought my first safety razor and badger brush, I like it a lot. Now I figure its time to upgrade to a straight razor. Any suggestions?

Thanked: 0Thanks for the greeting guys.
I am in Abbotsford, BC, so I don't think I'll be able to make it to the meet. Thanks for the invite though.
I'm looking at this "sight unseen" deal on whippeddog, $60 for a razor and strop. Is that a good entry level product or would it be a waste of money?

+1 to what Trillium said! The only thing is that some folks like their razors brand new and shiny. A sight undeen deal from Larry at Whippeddog won't be new, nor will it be shiny. But it will be wickedly sharp and ready for use.
It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.

Thanked: 275Whipped Dog should be fine. I have the Poor Man's Strop kit, and it's OK.
I'm in Richmond BC. Not walking distance to Abbotsford, but a reasonable drive. If you need to chat or visit, send me a PM.

Thanked: 0I ordered the poor man strop kit with the razor last night.
cpcohen, is there anywhere you go for shaving supplies in the Vancouver area? The only place I've been able to come by is the house of knives.
