    Default Hi from Midwest U.S.

I've been a DE shaver for 3 or 4 years and have become more and more curious about straights. So that's why I'm here. I do own a Feather RG and a pack of the ProGuard blades( I think I may need to try some other blades). I haven't used it in a long while and only managed at best, to get a SAS with some minor razor burn. I've read here that regular straights are more forgiving. I also own and have watched Lynn's DVD.
Probably my biggest question is: do shavers tend to tiptoe into straights or jump in with both feet?
Also, I've read somewhere that once you get good shaves with a straight you tend to give up DE. The gadget appeal of DE razors and blades are still high for me so I'm not ready to give them up.
But, do some of you straight razor shavers contine to use DEs as part of your regular razor rotation?

    Thanks in advance and Hello!!

You may either "tip toe" in or "jump in with both feet", its your call. That is the way most of us got here, one way or the other. What happens next is also entirely p to you. Welcome to SRP!

BTW I am completely straight, unlike some of the others around here.

It seems to me that most people jump in with both feet, nose held, eyes closed, and no water wings.

Normally by the time they've gotten their one professionally honed razor in the mail, they have a grand racked up in sharpening stones, soaps, creams, strops, gadgetry, custom orders, and 150 posts to their name, with nary a clue if what they're saying is fact, or fiction. That's how I did it anyhow....

It's ok though. I now know the difference...mostly.

well, in my case, i was a long-time full beard guy. promised my wife she could manscape me for christmas, and i ended up in the barber chair getting all of my beard removed (kept the 'stache though) with a straight. for me, that was it. went home, read up, send Lynn a wad of cash and never looked back. went from no shaving to shaving with a straight in one shot.
