Thanked: 2New Member, Old Guy, new to try straight!
I found Badger&Blade and have been DE and SE shaving for some months after starting with a DE, 46 or 47 years ago. Enjoy the shave and particularly like a Cobra Classic SE (Feather Prof blade). A "Straight" has intrigued me and I finally made the commitment and ordered a Hart 6/8 and 3" strop from Vintage Blades LLC. Slated to arrive on Friday. Looking forward to trying and learning from all!

Thanked: 4249Hi Jeff, welcome to SRP, If you enjoy the shave from a DE or SE, you will be nicely rewarded once you know your way around a straight. There is definately a learning curve but its all part of the fun of this hobby. Enjoy!

Jeff,
Welcome to SRP! If you're comfortable and happy with your DE/SE shaves, then you've given yourself a head start on straight shaving. There are some additional elements to learn ie blade angle, pressure, but you're already somewhat familiar with them.
Stropping takes technique, and for the long haul honing is a valuable skill to learn. Neither too hard, but unique to straights.
Enjoy the journey!
Peace,
Jim
