Thanked: 0Hi
So I finally signed up today (after hanging around for a few months), figuring it was about time I made a start on the road to shaving.
Ever since I was about 12 I have wanted to shave with a straight razor, it seemed manly, exciting and I assumed that nothing would make me cherish life as much as shaving with an exceptionally sharp blade. Another thing that drew me to the idea was the rich heritage and traditionalism of straight razor shaving that seems to have been left behind a bit in the modern world.
so I find myself and my humble 14 years of age, with a light coat of facial hair and my first shave on the horizon wanting to begin this part of my life with a straight razor as opposed to the modern counterparts. I hope I can add some useful advice here and hopefully secure the information needed to pass this art onto generations to come.

Welcome Earl!
You aren't the only young man on the forum, there are a couple others around. Since you have been hanging around for a couple months, I'm sure you know that this forum is full of gentlemen who love to answer questions and help a new shaver find his feet.
I can't help but wonder what your parents think of it though, lol. I am getting ready to teach my 16 year old son to shave with a straight, but it's normal to me. Most people I talk to think that anyone who shaves with a straight is crazy.
