Thanked: 0New here and to straight razor shaving
Greetings all for Texas. After speaking with my brother-in-law he convinced me to take a foray into the straight razor shaving. He has facial hair like mine (thick, course, fast growing in multiple directions) and he swears that he has never had a better save. My grand father sent me his collection of shavers (including his dad's and granddad's) so step one is complete. Now i need to hone the blade (or find a fair place that will do it for an honest price, you guy's input would be great). As well as a decent brush, soap, strop and i need to replace the scales on one and completely restore another blade. So lots of work ahead of me before i can even start shaving.
i will say, this looks like a good place with helpful people in it.

Thanked: 4249Welcome to SRP Ryu, it is fantastic that you allready have some family heirlooms from your grand-father. Your brother-in-law is absolutely right as far as getting a great shave for sure. My suggestion would be for you to look in the classifieds under member srevices and find somebody to hone your razor, from there you will have a true shave ready razor to use and learn upon.

Hi Ryu, this is a great forum, friendly and full of info. The classifieds are a great place to find good, honest services and the forum threads will help you figure out what you need prior to your first shave.
You may want to get with your brother-in-law as you start to shave, having someone close by to help will remove lots of guesswork! Good luck and enjoy learning to wet shave, it is quite the experience.I shave because I want to, not because I have to!
