That's good advice from nessmuck.
You mentioned it being shave-ready, but one person's 'shave ready' may be a far cry from another's. Depending on where you bought it, it may or may not have been sharp enough to give a good shave when you received it. And regardless of whether it was shave-ready when you received it, if it isn't cutting arm hair really easily, it is not shave-ready now. So your best bet is indeed to send it to a honing pro immediately. That can make all the difference in the world.
Although I don't know if there are any UK-based members advertising currently, you can find some honers here in the classifieds:

Good luck!
It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.
