Thanked: 0Recommend shaving bowls?
My hot, wet shaving process is almost complete.
1. I start with a shaving brush warmer/hydrator— Vulfix shaving mug (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1)
2. Hot shower
3. Then I oil — Art of Shaving pre-shave oil (http://www.amazon.com/Pre-Shave-Oil-...of+shaving+oil)
4. Then soap up the brush — http://www.amazon.com/The-Art-Shavin...f+shaving+bowl
I need two things for the next step:
5. A bowl to lather up the soap. I tried Art of Shaving and the Grooming Lounge and what I found seemed too small — http://www.groominglounge.com/shavin...ving-bowl.html —http://www.groominglounge.com/shavin...ving-bowl.html — I need something with a little more room to swish around in. I like the look of this — http://www.amazon.com/Buffalo-Shave-...having+scuttle — but it also seems small
6. A bowl for hot water to rinse/dip my razor between strokes — This should be a little bigger — I wonder should I use just any old porcelain bowl?
So can anyone help me with steps 5 and 6?

If you are looking for something to just build lather any over-sized bowl will do. Wallyworld has over-sized coffee mugs that work well. If you want specialized the larger shave sites like classic shaving and SRD have plenty.

+1 on thebigspender'scomments. On my latest trip to Goodwill I finally found a bowl to rival dirty bird at a coat of $1.99. About 5 or 5-1/2" across x about 1 or 1-1/2 tall with the lip curving inward. Ran it thru its paces this morning w/TOBS. Best lather I've had yet, from any of the soaps I use. I start the shave sequence by soaking my brush in the bowl on a small coffee warmer hot plate. Empty it and shake the brush and lather away. Kept on the warmer I have very warm lather when I need it. Added note, I have sensitive skin and occasionally nothing seems to help until I do a cold water shave. Go figure and any one want to explain that one? Shave safely acsenray and let us know what you finally come up with.

There is a thread somewhere regarding some nice handmade scuttles. They are avail on eBay, and aren't that costly.
I really can't remember much else, but I am sure you would find the thread easily enough.Bread and water can so easily become tea and toast

DINERA Bowl - IKEA
This is similar to one I use. I believe the matte finish helps build a good lather.
I never rinse my blade under water while shaving. I keep a damp cloth at the edge of the sink to wipe the lather off. I don't want to risk banging the edge of the blade on a bowl or running under water and tapping the faucet accidentally.

MAn, you are lucky!
Some people have all the luck. Describe exactly what you want, especially the rim curving back into the middle (keeps the lather from spilling out). And don't forget ridges I on the inside. Helps to build richer lather. And the plus is if the first one doesn't work out she maybe can try again.
Let us know how it goes.

I'd choose that option. I enjoy custom made products, myself.
I use this BIA bowl type for lathering creams, after I heat it by letting it hold hot water for a minute. Mine is brown. Sometimes I let it sit in/on top of a plastic cylinder that I use to hold hot water, so that the bowl stays warm; it's like a poor man's scuttle. This ceramic bowl has a 4" top opening and is 2" deep. I got mine at one of those kitchen stores. You can take the boy out of NY, but you can't take NY out of the boy.
