I was thinking after I posted that maybe the tin is sort of a heat-shield idea, where you pre-heat the glass to keep the brush and soap warm, but then have something cool to hold? I'm not sure yet if it will go in the curio-cabinet, or not, but that handle isn't much to hold either way.
