Thanked: 23d printing and shaving gear
Hello,
My name is Ivar and i am new to the forum (i have always being viewing this site as a guest, and it has belped me in learning how to shave, so thanx ;D ).
i have being shaving with a straight razor for over 3 years know, but are currently using a shavette for daily shaving.
but that is not what is topic is about, because i recently came with the idea of using 3d printing (printing of 3d object) in combination with my shaving gear. The 3d printing can be done in various materials (ceramics, stainless steel, and plastics)
These are the ideas i have currently:
- a shaving bowl printed in ceramics,
With my current shaving bowl i always get the soap on my hands which makes everything slippery, furthermore does it take some time to make the foam. so i thought this could be better. i have created ribbed pattern at the bottom of the bowl, for faster foam generating. then some additional ridges to prevent the foam from rising out of the bowl.
- a blade dispenser,
I have purchased a large variaty of DE blades and now i want some sort a storage. the current design will store about 120 blades and has a slot at the bottom so i can easily slide one out for use.
- DE Razor holder
This is designed to fit into a cabinet using the standard holes already drilled in the side.
-straight razor display stand
i have now 2 straight razors and 2 shavette, and all of them have a differnt box. I wanted one universal 'thing' to store the blades. i'm not sure yet about this, i'm working on some other ideas, perhaps some sort of small boxes which can be stacked.
These are the designed i have ordered with the 3dprinting company, and expecting the first delivery the end of this week and the next delivery a week later. i will post picture when it arrives
i would like to hear what you guys think. and perhaps have some suggestions.
with kind regards
Ivar
ps. I Know my english is not perfect so please be kind.

I really like the DE and straight razor stands. They look great in your sketches. Looking forward to seeing how they turn out. That bowl looks pretty cool as well. I haven't heard of 3D printing in ceramic before. What kind of surface finish can you obtain with the ceramics?
MattThe older I get the more I realize how little I actually know.

BTW your english is fine. Good chance it's technically better than most native speakers.

Thanked: 284I think for the applications you are planning to use the printed items, this is perfect. Not highly loaded, water resistant, etc. can't wait to see what you print!

This looks like a fantastic idea! Great drawings and ideas too. For people who are technologically inclined enough, you can create your own 3D printer at home for not too much money. Or so I have read at least.

I really like the shaving bowl design... would be nice to see a scuttle, with a reservoir for hot water underneath and an indentation on the lip of the bowl to hold the brush - to stop it sliding in.
It's nice to be important, but more important to be nice

Hey now! We have a 3d printer at work, and I love the bowl idea. The ribbing especially .
I think I might steel your idea.
