John I would love to have one of the real ones. But lately I,ve been eyeballing the Harbour Frieght knock off at 80$, but it makes me wonder what your giving up for that cost, I guess I may have to see, the cigar inserts are a great idea, I have some of them. Tc

I would actually go with the Harbor Freight, if I had to do it again,,, a lot less work.

I have inspected the Harbor freight ones and passed because of the quality. But then again they are cheap and easy.

Judging only from his pictures I would much rather have Hirlau's project.

That turned out great ! How thick is the mirror you need ? Was thinking a cheap mirror might be thin or even polish up a sheet of aluminum. It's not like your going to shave off it right ?
Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.

It was either 1/16 th or 1/8 th ,,,,,I took it to a glass & mirror shop to get a piece cut, they looked at it & said it was too thin & nobody has mirror that thin anymore.

That's an awesome chest! It must weight a ton with everything in it. Very cool - might have to make one if the collection keeps growing.
