Badger hair has been suggested as a good HHT medium. It seems to work for me

I've never tried synthetic hair, but I believe you could find it useful. The HHT is a probing test. It is very subjective in that you are gauging both the probing and the results against what your experience is with past HHTs and final shave tests. So the test is somewhat meaningless without experience and has poor correlation between different hair types and different testers. Try it.

While you will here a lot of arguments for and against the HHT, the use of a synthetic hair for the HHT would be useful due to 1) less affected by humidity, 2) ready supply of identical test medium
The older I get the more I realize how little I actually know.
