Thread: Shave Stand

I wanted a shave stand for some time, sadly, with a distinct absence of antique stores, they are not something that easy to find in this part of the world.

I found a picture of something I liked, on line.

I approached a company that I deal with a fair bit and asked them if they could produce something like it for me. From a simple picture and a verbal description, they came back with this.

Exactly what I had in mind, all solid wood, varnished, tilting mirror, couple of drawers, heavy enough to attach a strop hook to and a hole in the top for a bowl.

That’s pretty awesome! My dream is to have one overlooking a lake or a large canyon one day.

Thank you. It is a softwood of some type (unknown), nothing exotic I'm afraid, more a case of whatever they had lying around. If i had known that they would produce something of this quality, I think I may have taken the trouble to source some nicer wood and had it shipped over. However the wood they have used does have a fair pattern to it.

Just an update on my lovely shaving stand. I'm not able to use it some mornings as it has been commandeered by our resident wild cat, (one of six, street cats we have taken in.)

It is now.
