I know others have used both of those scuttles. I think you'd have fun with either to be honest... which do you like best?

I have the smaller one from Dirty Bird and love it. It is put together well, the water level comes up high enough to keep the whole inside cup warm, and it has ridges on the inside to help build a lather for using creams. I also have a brush scuttle and use that for when I use soaps.

I have not tried the Georgetown one, but I am pretty sure that you would get pretty good results with that too.

I have had a Moss Scuttle from Sara Bonnyman pottery for several years now, and they work well. I just ordered a G5 last week, so I will post my thoughts once I have had a chance to test it, but they look super!

If You include shipping to europe, the GP scuttle is about half the price of the canadien contenders. checked before christmas and didn't find it hard to choose.

Also consider the Moss Scuttle from Sara Bonnyman pottery in Canada. And, yes, the shipping charges are high on many of these scuttles.

On the other hand, you might want to create your own scuttle by putting two pieces of pottery together — a big container to hold the hot water and a smaller one to sit inside it with your brush. Use your imagination. That's what I do and it works for me. I used to have a Georgetown Scuttle.

Here is my post on the G5 I just bought.... It is working very well for me and I just love the plug for the water jacket. Makes it work well for me. Would be lost without it for how I use my scuttle.

A tough question... They are both excellent and essentially do the same thing... Just as well as one another... So, I guess the only recommendation I can give is to choose what you can afford, and what you like

I have the G5 and its an improvement over the older ones however even when filled with boiling hot water it doesn't keep things warm to last the entire shave and I'm not a slow shaver. I guess the one from Oskar in Germany and the one from Canada have the best reputations for keeping things warm the longest but with shipping they are quite expensive.

Have you looked into the "redneck scuttle"? It is a very inexpensive alternative to a one piece.
