    Default New Scuttle Idea

So I was wandering around Michael's Crafts looking for some glazed pottery to put together for a scuttle...and there it was!

A small potpourri simmer pot! I have a bowl in it right now, but it does not go deep enough, so I will find a better fitting one. The idea is put in hot water and plug it in. Take my shower, then come out and mix The Bomb.

Hot lather for the whole shave! Did I mention this thing only cost $9.95?

    David.

Ok so it was not as original as I thought. My mistake.

That's what I was talking about. Now, if someone asks, I can tell them to go to Michael's. Do you find you need to unplug it at some point?
By the time I get to second pass, I need to unplug mine, it get's too hot... or the lather will cook, and become a foam? Also, try a small glazed flower pot, it should fit the ticket for you...
    See my post.

Just started using it, but right now I don't find it get's too hot. It is all ceramic so it actually heats kind of slow. I am thinking about running it through a timer to start it 15 minutes before I get up for work.

    Thanks for flower pot tip.

    Wink

...and you could hurl some pourri into the pot pre-shower and treat yourself to warmish lather as well as delightfully aroma'd environs for both your shower and post-shower shave.

This ranks right up there with epiphanies.

I fill mine with hot water from the tap, as hot as it gets. I put that little flower pot scuttle in it, also filled with hot tap water... I build my lather. Mine takes about 5mins to heat up....

You'll have to experiment with it. They are not designed for our purposes, my set up works. Your results may vary.....

Default Outstanding!! I've tried it and it DOES work!

Yes, I have used a similar arrangment, and have gotten great results from it, while I do have to re-whip up my lather as the shave goes on, I find the hot lather that I get with each repeated pass is well worth the effort. I used mine just 1hour ago with my shavette, and got a more than preasurable BBS. Thanks for sharing. I got the idea from you great fellows at SRP, always a great source of wet-shaving info. Proud to be part of the site, and 'Eh, have a great G/day!!

I, too, find that it's worth having to frequently re-lather, to have lather that's steaming hot. The heat helps the lather penetrate the beard, and my face ends up slippery with soft whiskers. That's the main point, as I understand.
