Thank you all. Most of the boxes I make end up going to Family as gifts. It's nice to have other people appreciate my work.

While fancy wood would be cool -- consider a makeover of
a small cardboard box with airplane dope, silk fabric, model
airplane tissue, linen or other. A cardboard box with five or six applications
of shellac, varnish or model airplane dope can become very sturdy.
Reinforce the bottom from the inside and the top from the outside
with layers of what you have access to. Ribbon, and fabric is easy to find...

The final finish can be a cool handmade paper or classic rice paper.

I have seen craft folk take a photo and do "decoupage" tricks to
decorate simple boxes. A photo of the razor over a photo of cherry
blossoms seems apropos. In a month or so cherry blossom petals
could be easy to find to incorporate in the surface. In craft stores
I have also seen wood veneer that can be glued to any surface.

And sure Japanese lacquer can also be used....

Not to change the subject, sorry to hijack, but along these lines, how do guys like the Japanese style razors. Do they take some getting used to? It seems to me that the small narrow handle would be difficult to hold, and I'd imagine, if your hands are the slightest bit wet, it could spell disaster, me, with full on "AD's" I'd love to buy one, but haven't yet. I'm sure it's something I'll obsess over.....

Nifty if you read the thread you'll see the work of art that Mr. Dobson produced.

Zib, It's been about a month now and I love it. It was a little tricky figuring out how to shave both sides of my face with the stamp side out but it was worth the effort.

Received my package from Pdobson today. My photography skills suck. This thing looks incredible. I really can not explain how nice it looks. I don't have the heart to leave it in the bathroom. So SWMBO will have to clear out some space in the book case in the living room. I'll also have to get another Japanese razor so I can leave 2 in the box and keep one in the bathroom.

    Thanks again Mr. Dobson.

The photos are where it would be in the medicine cabinet.

Super Slick. I'll be needing a box for my kamisori when it shows up. That gave me a few ideas...

For the record, dealing with Phillip was great. He is a gentleman, a superb craftsman and above all else a man of his word.

Thank you. I enjoyed making this one. I'm glad it arrived safely.
