    Default New Shave Den

    Hey Group,

You all inspired me to build this new shave den. I still have to apply the pickled oak finish and two coats of poly. I designed it for the space and curved the razor racks. It is subtle, but the razors splay from the center out. It holds 30 razors, 4 brushes and 4 DEs. The razor racks have notches that are 1/2", 7/16" and 1/2" for different widths of razors. The shelf is already full. I might remake the shelf in the future to be 3" wider.

Thanks for all of the ideas people have posted. They helped a lot.

    David

In spite of how it looks, I really am still a newb at this. And those T shaped things really help me when things get tough.

But please note the absence of anything Mach XX related!

Thank you. No plans, I just went to Home Depot and grabbed 1/2" red oak out of the racks. The 1/4" oak plywood for the back came from Woodcraft. Total I have about $50 into it. I had to buy way more plywood than I needed.

The stiles are 1 1/2" oak, and the rails are 2 1/2" for the notched rail, and 3 1/2" for the dimpled rail. Now the critical measurment is the distance between the bottom of the notched rail and the top of the dimpled rail. That is 4 1/2". It is critical so when the wedge end of the razor sits in the dimple, it leans back into the notch at an angle to ensure that the razors don't fall forward and to also take up the least amount of space. I did not have a lot of height, and I wanted 2 rows for some growth in my collection. I have RAD very bad.
