Thanked: 443I was just concerned for you, that you wouldn't run out of room.
Where did you get such thin basswood? Do you have a planer?"These aren't the droids you're looking for." "These aren't the droids we're looking for." "He can go about his business." "You can go about your business."

After I made the box and posted in on FB a friend said her husband could make me a larger box when I ran out of room in this one. I told her to get him started cause this only holds 30 and I already outgrew it, before it was even finished.

Thanked: 993ok, while the razor box looks great, what I'm also digging is your coffee table underneath. That is your coffee table, right? If I'm making a mistake, I'm sorry....otherwise, I love the fact that you have razors on display IN your coffee table, IN your living room, IN your house.
Amazing.

Thanks Maxi, yes it is a coffee table. Liatorp from IKEA. $249 says SWMBO
Must leave them in full dispaly for when the daughters' male friends come to visit.

That box looks very handsome, but I would like to add a word of caution about enclosing (certain) straight razors together in there.
If any of the razors in question had celluloid scales and if those scales had a case of celluloid rot then all of the razors in the box could possibly be attacked by the gases given off by said scales.
If there were any possibility of that happening then it would be far better if there were some ventilation holes (or screening) to actually allow for those gases to escape.

Sometimes you are in the right place at the right time. Cool.

Yeah I thought about that. I surmise though that any vintage celluloid that was susceptible to cell rot would have offgassed by now. These things are 100 years old or more.
I would be interested to hear other's thoughts. Anyone here with a degree in chemistry that is familiar with Celluloid rot?

Thanked: 20Great market for it
There is a market for this box. I ended up making leather pouches, they are great for travelling, but a nightmare to store in a box. Everytime I want to get a razor I have to go through every pouch to find the razor. You can see the razor without going crazy looking the right razor. A great idea. There is a market for this box. Juan.
