    Default 3 Scuttles

Here's a pic I've posted before, and not to take anything away from G, the original poster.
This shows 3 popular scuttles. From left to right. The Georgetown Pottery G5 w/cork.
The Dirty Bird 1.5 in the middle, and finally, the huge, Dirty Bird Double.

If your going with DB, The Double is the best imo, It just holds the heat better. You'd think the GTP G5 would with the cork, but it doesn't. It only holds about 2 cups of water, and heat disapates quickly, where the DB Double is over 6 inches wide, and holds 4 cups....The DB Double is larger than the Schwarzeisskeramik and easier to pronounce...Also, DB is available in the U.S.

What really pushed me to order the DB Double was Al's, The bomb cream. I just could not get it to lather well. Al said, "Use a big bowl". He was right.

Not taking anything away, this is interesting. I agree with you; plus it is interesting to see that nobody else uses their banana hook.
When you say 4 cups do you mean in the lather bowl? Mine holds just under six in the outside portion, I haven't measured the lather bowl.

Nope, on the inside. Mine holds 4 cups of hot water. I use a measuring cup heated in the microwave, so I know it's 32oz. I know there's differences between hand made items, but 2 cups is a big difference.... Your scuttle is a bit different, It's possible Julie started making them a bit larger. Mine has swirls, but not a web, and the opening across the top is just over 6 inches. She called it a "double" I believe.

Interesting. Maybe by the suggestion of the great ZIB Julie has modified her scuttle slightly.
Mine is 6" across the lather bowl on the inside surface.

But are you sure that it is actually bigger than the German one?
In the video Thomas shows that it can take more than 800gr in the outer container.

If I remember my culinary classes correctly 800 g water is close to 4 c.
while Rich's holds 4 c. mine definitely holds just a hair under 6 c. This would be closer to 1200 g. If my mental math is correct.

I believe it was bout a month, but it really depends on where she is in production. Each piece is made to order and I think she slings a few before firing. You could always email her to get a definite answer.
