Thread: Paper Case for Razors

Same here. I was being lazy and thought "What thickness can I run through my printer and then not need a pattern." LOL I really like the idea of the triangles and tape to hold the pattern after the edges are cut. I downloaded the .0255 pattern tonight and that will be my next step. I wonder what the limits are for thickness and still be able to fold. I have a V groover from a previous box experiment that might be usefull instead of creasing. maybe not! :-]
Who would have thought when I starting with straights I would be having a discussion about making boxes? FUN!

I have coincidentally been making a FEW cases lately too - they are made from approx. 1mm thick pasteboard and are covered inside and out with a super thin cardmaking/scrapbooking paper I found locally called 'Beautex Paper'. Really happy with how they turned out - the textured Beautex makes them look almost like vintage originals.

Third attempt
This is my third attempt. The second is not going to have any pictures taken!
I used .026 poster board. I included the patterns to see how I changed it a little. Basically I cut off the tabs that fold inside. They were to thick and hard to bend with this material. the ends are strong enough without them. The stripes are hard to line up but I like the look. It fits tight and I am in a little bit of a hurry and didn't wait for the glue to dry before pictures. OOOPs

The stripes look great! We're starting to build up a nice library of different styles. It is fun, isn't it?
What do you think of the "crush strength" of the .026?

Thanks, I don't know how to judge crush strength but I would put it in a suitcase with out worry. The double end is very strong with the interior sleeve. If you wanted to make it bullet proof a full length interior or rather 2 piece, 3/4 and 1/4 length, would be the ticket.
One easy change I think would make it much neater would be to stagger the folds on the end pieces by the thickness of the material. Side #1 would be a little shorter. #2 a little longer etc. I think it certainly would be worth a try with the thicker material.
I have tried fitting various razors and have found that about half of them fit. The box is long for those. The ones that the length is good for don't fit inside.
Yes, this is lots of fun!

Thanked: 235I just tried making one of these boxes today. It seems to have worked well. It fits a 5/8ths razor really well. It's upstairs with the glue drying at the moment, but I feel like it could do with something like a little PVC glue along the seams.
I plan on making a heap more of these for razor storage.
Thanks for the template and the instructions.
