I began juicing (vegetable) not moonshine, in the early 70s. Had an Acme Juicerator, which is a centrifugal type that spins, collects the pulp in a basket with tightly meshed walls, that the juice has to pass through to get to the extraction process. Makes very clean and tasty juice. Many moves and a divorce later I don't know what happened to the juicer, and I bought a 'masticating' type, a Champion juicer.

The juice is not as clear and 'clean' in that there is a certain amount of pulp that finds its way into it, but it is probably more nutrient filled than the centrifugal type, since it extracts the majority of the pulp rather than capturing it in a basket, and then forcing the juice through it. You can also make nut butters with the Champion if it is worth the greasy mess at cleanup. I've done it but won't again. Never used the Vita Mix but I've heard good things.
