Nothing better than the burst of flavor in your mouth that comes with an un-popped yolk.
Anyhoo Sunday dinner for me was German fried spare ribs, hash browns, and sweet/sour onions.......all done up with vintage Wagner cast iron.

I've heard about hoe cakes but never tried to make them. I think they are similar to Johnny Cakes. Let us know how the hoe cakes go.

I made acorn meal last fall and fried up some cakes. I might make some more this weekend, along with some buckwheat pancakes.

many recipes say the names are interchangeable

I have also heard that the difference is the Cornmeal

Johnnycakes use cornmeal and Hoe cakes don't or use much less

IDK what the real answer is but I am going to try without for the first time since I have had Johnny Cakes with Corn Meal

Times like this I wish I had a digital camera and knew how to use it.

Just finished the Griswold #5 EPU. It's not a rare piece but it is a hard to find one.

What does EPU mean? Something to do with Erie, PA?
