    Default Superfoods

There's a lot to do about superfoods, the one even more exotic than the other.

My superfood is cod liver in its oil. I eat a tin a week, both the livers and the oil. Chockablock with omega-3 fish oils, so much vitamin A that you shouldn't eat more than one tin a week, and vitamin D. The acne on my legs and buttocks has finally disappeared, about time at 53, the few psoriasis spots I have are much less active. My joints feel less stiff after exercise as well. The oils are supposed to be good for the blood vessels too, but that is a long term thing.

    So what's your superfood?

As a PhD biochemist, I will say that 90% of when you live and when you die is determined by genetics. There's no magic. We used to have saying about foods, "there's no such thing as "good for you"". Everything you eat releases oxygen free radicals, that will cause cancer. Meaning everything you eat to stay alive is killing you. Depressed yet?

That is the sort of stuff I eat when I don't eat cod livers.

Nature and nurture. Healthy living does help IMHO to feel better and be healthier. As a G.P. I see too much poor health due to poor diet.

Not at all! In fact, I like your style!

Patients often ask me, "Am I dying, Doc?" My typical response is, "Of course you're dying! We all are, it's just that some of us are dying faster than others." Then I tell them that they aren't in the fast group. It really sucks on those rare occasions when they are in that fast group...

When you are dead, you don't know that you are dead. It's difficult only for the others.
It's the same when you are stupid.

I'm a firm believer in all things Kool-Aid

Spirulina, Chlorella, Hemp-seeds, Chia seeds Goji-berries and about a dozen other "super-foods" are all part of my daily diet.
No wonder then that I'm a handsome devil in a super-fit body...

But it's Friday, I need another beer.

Local Raw Honey - is my only "Super Food" that I actually have nearly every night in my tea..

Anything else is as the mood strikes me, I don't actively seek them out, I eat pretty healthy but not obsessively so

    Good Thread Idea

Grass fed beef, organic food when i can afford it and daily vitamins and cod liver oil! Also home cooking and canning. still get my dose of sugar and ice cream though. i'm naturally thin so i don't need to watch my weight but i don't get much exercise so i'm out of shape. probably negates all the good things i eat.
