Thanked: 13245Ok that took way longer then I thought it would, but I went REALLY slow,,
I got 1 full Qt
Plus a couple of cups,
I could have probably got more out of there, but what I made is really White and Pure, I strained it through a wire mesh then through the wire mesh and Flannel...
Pretty happy for my first attempt

Thanked: 13245Incredible -
The biscuits on Sunday morning were noticeably flakier and the taste was a bit better
We used some of the Lard to pan fry a couple of Steaks for dinner I was really impressed at the heat handling abilities

Lard is king for certain foods, heart disease be damned. Once upon a time Mc Donalds I believe used it to deep fry it's french fries with this fat and I think it made all the difference. Works great for seasoning Cast Iron too it surely can take the heat.

Thanked: 13245My understanding after some reading is that Real Rendered Lard is actually much healthier then Crisco, Processed Lard or Shortening
But heck they probably all are bad for us
