I enjoy a good fresh cup of coffee but after reading all this I'm sure glad I'm not into espresso.

    Dave,
How about a pic of the faema in you basement? I might be interested. I see you didn't have the alex on your list. It seemed to be the hot prosumer last year. Has it fallen out of favor.

Take it easy on Don, he has one of the lowest resistance levels to ADs I've ever seen. Poor guy just spent $5K and doesn't even know it.

    Let's go shooting.

I will make it up to him. I have a broken blade in transit (I think). I am going to make a set of scales for it after I regrind the blade and make him a straight stogie cutter, if I can get the design worked out. Guess it is not much of a surprise now hu?

We will all have to hook up again for a shoot. Ever shot a 3-bird? I am going to one at Indian Ridge on the 22nd. You have to use a pump or auto, no O/U’s. Three birds a station, some report, some following, some true.

Remember, this was just a primer to cover a few high points. The rabbit hole goes much deeper than this.

Could not of said it better myself. By the way I would not mind taking you up on that lesson.

Alex is another good one. That was just a list of some of the more popular models and/or machines I have used. There are many more out there.

The Faema, I documented the entire rebuild process on Home-Barista.com. Here is the Link to the story. If you don’t want to read the entire thing, page one has the machine as I received it, last page has the final product. The right group does not work, ruptured heat exchanger tube but the left group works, and you will never use more than one at a time anyway. I insulated the boiler, added a brew pressure gauge and a matched boiler gauge, new pressurestat, powder coated, adjustable delay on make relay for preinfusion adjustments, etc… It is big.

Anytime. I have a ‘special’ machine coming the first part of next month for some testing. First one in country, fresh from the plant floor in Italy, I can not say more than that about it right now.

Give me a couple weeks head notice and I will gather some coffee from our (HB.com) sponsors along with my home roast/blend.

Standing invite for anyone that wants to play Barista.

That's very generous of you, and a great opportunity for anyone within driving distance!

Wish I could take you up on that.

I completely agree that coffee should be black, strong and sweet.

This is my current setup. Elektra A3, Cimbali Max grinder a BUNN bulk grinder for non espresso preparation and a tuned drip pot. My roaster, a VBM domobar super and another Max are in the cabinet along with greens and a plethora of other gear.
