Mick...I said a tbl. spoon and you are correct , it should be about a teaspoon .........Der !!:banghead:
a samovar would be nice, but swmbo, and i dont drink the same tea, she is a decaf person, prefering earl grey and english breakfast, i like the chinese black teas, so we are gonna go with separate pots and a electric
kettle for the water. atleast that is how were leaning now.
The rounded teaspoon measurement is generally used for your typical british style teacup (About 6.5oz I suppose). I drink from a tin panniken that takes around 11 or 12 oz, so my measurements are two teaspoons of tea for my cup and still just one for the pot. I also use a heaped spoon as I like a little bit of muscle to my tea.

sounds great i will remember that, now on to my next question, and i hope someone here can awnser it. i have a problem drinking green tea, due to the tannin in it upsetting my stomach something awful, but have been looking at green age pu erh, and wondering if that is gonna do the same thing, anyone know if that will be the case
I'm a hardcore black tea drinker myself.I wonder if your brewing too long ? With black tea if you brew too long the tannins come out.I go for about 3-5 min. for mine, but if ya go too long then it gets gnarly.Black tea is proving to have antioxidant qualities also if that's what yer looking for in the green tea ? But studies have also shown, the minute you add milk ,the antioxidant properties go south. This has also been found by the way to be true with adding dairy to any antioxidant food or beverage. The casein in the dairy is apparently the culprit. So adding blue berries to your yogurt,....the berries will just be tasty but not beneficial cept for fiber and other vitamins. The yogurt however will still be good as far as the cultures and such doing what they are supposed to be doing.Sorry TMI ,my bad.........;)
Personally, I prefer my green tea iced. Brew up a batch, let it cool and fridge it overnight with a squeeze or two of lemon. It may be that you are brewing the green tea a little too long. Try taking the brewing time down by 30 secs to a minute. Or you could also be brewing too hot, you don't want boiling water for Green tea. You want to bring it to about 70C (160F) give or take, dependant on the tea variety. Too much heat will also bring out the tannins, as well as over long steeping.

MMM...Now I admit,I do like me some iced green tea....very refreshinating indeed ! Yeah that's my new word refreshinating ahhhhhhhhh !:D
ive been brewing most of my teas for no more than about 5 min, and that is black or green, that is unless im on the 3rd infusion of some puerh, then its about 7 min to get the tastes out of the leaves, my swmbo, read that some people just have problems with green tea i must be one of them, and as for milk, that is a no no for me anyway, seeing how for some reason in the last year i have become lactose intolerant. so all of my tea is drank straight up, no milk or sugar, and besides i drank my coffee black, i should be able to stomach my tea the same way.
Ahh....there is the issue. If I am to understand you correctly ,you are brewing the same tea leaves more than once ? If that is what you are doing, stop on that.Brew them only once for about 3-4 min.always start with fresh tea .
