I'm still planning on a trip to Copper Fox, but Catoctin is half as far, so it was an easier trip in the light snow/sleet/rain we got yesterday.

My Catoctin trip was motivated by a release of their Cask Strength Rye. They told me it sold out and people in line at opening still didn't get any. I may go back to get that.

I had a finger of Buffalo Trace Bourbon after dinner. Going to have some Glenmorangie The Original before going to bed later.

Whoa Nelly, that was a long, long day. No better time to unwind with a lovely dram of Highland Park 18yo.

And suddenly the world seems a better, more civilized place. :)

I'm pleased but not thrilled with the Dalwhinnie 15 year old. It's nice but nothing outstanding.

A good old Talisker 10 year old is on the shelf at the minute. Can't go wrong there.

A few things I have my eye on:

Still want a springbank 10 year old

Talisker Port Ruighe looks very nice

Kilchoman Machir Bay also looks great - I might buy my mum a bottle for her birthday (and sneak a secret drink)

Sipping Aberlour A'bunadh, Batch 45 right now. Mmm, mmm!

After dinner last night I decided to try this Glenmorangie Necrar D'or I've had for a few months. Not bad at all. Definitely some hints of fruit in there at some level but overall smooth and easy on the tongue. It won't hit the top of my list (I prefer heavier with more smoke) but it's a worthy scotch.

I hit the Monkey Shoulder last night, it's a scotch blend. Goes down very nicely with a cube of ice. I'll be saving the Talisker for Xmas day and have a wee dram with my father in law.

I enjoyed a bottle of the Springbank 10 year-old about a year ago. If memory serves (I really should start keeping tasting notes!) it's complex and peaty, and imminently sippable.

BTW: I don't know whether they merely changed the packaging, or if there are two similarly named Springbank 10 year-old offerings. Whatever the case, this is the one that I enjoyed:

Got my hands on some Buffalo Trace 9year old single barrel today.
Very nice especially at the price point, I may need to stock up a bit.

I have recently switched to an electronic cigarette (almost 4 months now) and am currently enjoying an egg-nog flavor that compliments this very nicely.
