Thanks for all the ideas folks. Just getting into Whiskey recently, having started on the easier-to-drink Irish whiskies and now moving on to some single malts. First up is a 12yo glenfiddich.
I've been enjoying Tullamore Dew lately; I find I prefer Irish or Canadian (in that order) whiskey to Scotch though only slightly. Just don't hand me Jack, Beam or any of the American Bourbons. Far too harsh. How they can get away with writing the word "whiskey" on the label escapes me.
Sitting in a pub. Just been through a springbank 10 -- very good, similar to a highland park 12 in a sense; will definitely get a bottle soon.
Now at the end of a lagavulin 16 year old, which, again, I enjoyed a lot but is fairly similar to a laphroaig, which I already have at home, for me to buy a bottle just yet. Still, I think I prefer it to a laphroaig. Not quite as good as the more costly ardbegs though.
Back in my drinking days, I spent some wonderful time with this wonderful elixir, The Macallan 18 year old:

Its Friday so I actually had a couple drinks: Ardberg and a great Canadian whiskey called Forty Creek
I went to a tasting event and tried the "Double Barrel Reserve" the "Copper Pot" and the "Barrel Select" and my favourite was the basic one, the "Barrel Select", this one:
Forty Creek Whisky - Products
This is the only Canadian whiskey that I can enjoy neat, the usual one like CC and CR must be mixed as they are kind of harsh IMHO.
I think this is a great start to the New Year!
