Personally, I have given it a lot of opportunity, and it doesn't do it for me. Not a big deal. As for the Lagavulin 16, I had a bottle of that and remember tasting it after having sat aside for a bit. I was blown away by how great it was. And the Glenkinchie - also very nice. A lot more delicate than the Lagavulin for sure! Both were great.

Looks like you are making your way around Diageo nicely. Is Dalwhinnie next for you, by chance???

Dalwhinnie 15 seems to be a lot nicer if left for a while. I wasn't overly impressed by it when I first bought it but it's really rather nice now.

I think that the next bottle I buy myself will finally be an Ardbeg.

Tempted to try another bowmore soon, too -- anyone had the 15 year old?

An Ardbeg in summer? To each his own but man, talk about a heavy roller in the sun. . I'd go for a bunna or a Bowmore indeed. Had the 15 but was more surprised by the 17.. slainthé!

I find it has many different flavors: citrus and heather that develops into caramel and finally ends with a medicinal flavor. The thing is, none of the flavors are particularly strong. This is my first blended Scotch so I am not sure what to expect but it does remind me of entry level offerings from Glenlivet and Balvenie I have tried.

I definitely agree - this does taste young, like an entry level. It is good, however.

I poured another one yesterday and sipped it over the course of about 4 hours or so. It definitely mellowed out and became kind of toasty and spicy after a bit. Not the best blend I have ever had. Definitely the first malt blend. Definitely going to enjoy the bottle.

Had a glass of Irish Pot Still Whiskey with a Romeo 3 by the pool tonight after dinner. Writers Tears it's called.

The glass was better than the 'gar. A slow sipping whiskey that'll give you the cough tickle if you swig to much at once, but just tastes,, awesome to me. Very woody on the nose, and very smooth heat on the end.

One of my favourite Irish whiskeys! I found the first nose to be like freshly skinned green apples which totally surprised me the first time. .
