£49 for uigeadail is pretty good. it's about 73 here, I might grab a bottle while I'm over. I should be getting a bottle of some kind of new make spirit too if my friend can get hold of one.

Technically off topic, having never tried it before, I bought a (Danish) Aquavit sample, the other day. Made a great change from the usual selection!

I reviewed a norwegian aquavit on my blog. I've only tasted one danish one and was told to down it neat. It wasn't awful, but I wouldn't choose to do it again. The norwegian one I had was much nicer, but I had it in a glencairn with a drop of water like a scotch. There's one made locally here, so I might grab a bottle of that when I next have some spare cash. What was the name of the one you tried?

I believe it was Aalborg Taffel. I don't think there are any Norwegian aquavits available as samples so I'd have to commit to a whole bottle. Would like to try though, as I've heard it's quite different to its Swedish and Danish counterparts.

Yeh, I reckon the norwegian one was less powerfully flavoured in the caroway department and had a lot more other flavours. I just got paid so I'm going to pick up a small bottle of the local one this week.

Aalborg Taffel (or Red Aalborg as we like to call it) can taste quite awful if you're not used to the taste of caraway.
I find it very good to drink chilled while eating herring.

I thought the strong caraway flavour was the great parts. I had it in the freezer for 10 mins, so it was nice and cold.

Can either of you recommend some good but not too expensive bottles either Danish, Swedish or Norwegian?

I'm more of a whisky drinker than an aquavit drinker so I don't know too much about the different bottles. You could try some of the Jubilĉum (Jubilee) bottles as they are sometimes considered more pleasing and not so rough around the edges as the regular Aalborg Taffel.

Found this. They got samples and ship global too.

Interesting sounding stuff. Gonna have to try it.
