I haven't tried the 18, but I do have a bottle of the HP 15 at home. It's good stuff, and a bit different from the 12. According to Highland Park's YouTube videos, it's because the 15 is matured in Sherry casks made from American oak rather than the European oak Sherry casks used for the 12 and 18 yo expressions. "It's all about tree", as the host put it...

My current 18 is Chivas Regal. It's very good, but comparing it to a good single malt is like comparing Sam Adams lite to their regular Boston Lager. The single malt/Boston Lager just has more flavor!
