Look much the same to me, just that the chemex is all one vessel
Bread and water can so easily become tea and toast

Lovely grinder! Resembles mine (although mine's got straight sides, metal drawer, and a grind-adjustment knob, top-rear) -- it's a late-1960s/early-1970s Zassenhaus, and it's my "daily" grinder. A 2007 eBay purchase. Bodum "Shin Bistro" press-pot.

Given your location, you might appreciate what I found written on the underside.

You can have everything, and still not have enough.
I'd give it all up, for just a little more.

Mine is a Zassenhaus as well. Grind adjust is inside under the mill. Think it is a bit earlier around the 40s mark. The curved sides are for holding between the knees. Will grind fine enough for espresso but takes a fair while when grinding that fine.

Restored a de pew for my neighbor a while back. They are pretty simple but very well built with quality parts.

The old Zass units were about the best you could get. The new ones are a different story. I've had them literally fall apart on me while using.

One way to tell the quality of a found coffee mill is to look at the adjustment mechanism. If at the crank shaft in plain sight, not so good. The better ones had the fine adjust mechanism inside and can be adjusted after removing the grounds box. Turn the lever/ tab at the base of the shaft to adjust.
