Default Alum after an all Proraso Green Shave

As the title suggests I used Proraso green pre shave cream and the same shaving cream. First time I'd tried it myself after a visit to the barber and him flinging a canny discount my way (BobH this really is getting out of hand now lol)

So, on with the shave. Gillette Rocket Flair Tip II with a Personna Isreali blade. 2 passes rinse and then alum.

Oh my word. When I put the alum to my face it was like an ice cube. It was amazing. No sting or bite just cool and cooler. I may have just found heaven in a shave

Thanks for the info. I thought you were going to advise not to do it. I'm waiting for my first tub of Proraso Green to come in the mail.

Glad to see you are afflicted too and that your shave turned out so well judging from the feed back the alum gave you. There will come a day when the alum will tell you otherwise too.

Yes - the alum block has turned out to be one of my favorites parts of the shave!!

When it's like a soothing, tingly sensation, you know it's a good shave with good technique. I find when it really stings, usually in a certain area, that's telling you to lighten up in that area. Taught me, my lower right hand neck side is very sensitive, and now I know to be extra light in that area.

From using it every time, I now occasionally use the Green Proraso Pre / Post shave cream, it's nice! Find it doesn't really do anything before a shave, if anything I find it degrades the lather and the contact with the blade, but after, it's great.

Of all the Proraso shaving soaps, Green is my least favorite, Red is my favorite, with White and Blue pretty much tied....YMMV!

Believe me, alum and I seldom agree on the quality of a shave

The red does pique my interest being sandalwood, a fragrance I love. Trouble is that I have half a wall cabinet and a good bit of a vanity cupboard filled with lotions and potions.

I've been indulged by the wife on my last few due to quitting cigarettes. I'm not sure how much longer my luck will hold though

Just got the mail and lo and behold, it was in there. Also got some Tabac and Cella. I'll use the Proraso this evening and try to report back.

Every now and then I'll go for what I call the All Proraso System - green pre/post cream, green soap and the green aftershave splash, with alum before the aftershave (a normal part of my shaving ritual). Even though I have much better soaps I still find this combination very nice and satisfying

Alum before the AS?? I see the glimmer of a trick here...alum constricts the skin....thus????
