Im a strong proponent of Witch hazel. I like Thayers but there are others that are equally liked.

Yes. There are other brands of Witch Hazel. I just enjoy the Thayer Lavender

I use witch hazel most times when there have been some nicks. It dries quickly, and the witch hazel closes pores fast.

Went to a local store today and saw a big bottle of Thayer peach. I liked the smell and will have to give it a try after tonight’s shave.

I've been using this lately. The lavender is not my favorite choice, but it was available at the store. I like the Lemon better. I find Thayers don't dry as quickly. Guess its because of the other good thing in it.

Speed of drying might be affected by alcohol content. I don't know if thayers maintains the same percentage of alcohol in each version or not. I only use the alcohol free versions.

Old barbers myth number something or other. Pores do not open or close or change in any way. Maybe the skin around them may swell or shrink but the pores themselves are fixed.

The alcohol content in thayers does change with the variety. They sell an aftershave WH which is loaded with alcohol.

I learned the hard way you can overdo WH. I was putting it on three and four times a day.

Shaving irritation ensued. The WH applications softened my skin to the point no amount of careful technique could prevent weepers and scrapes. After going back to one application after shaving, the irritation problems went away.

I splash on Thayer Lavender after a hot towel then some GFT Coral Skin Food. Sometimes I’ll splash on some aftershave but normally just the WH and Skin Food.
