aftershave spash vs EDT
This is a question I cant seem to find an answer that makes sense to me.
what is actual difference between post shave balm splash and EDT?
I know its sounds stupid and I know the difference in feel, cream vs liquid and I know the difference between after shave and EDT.
My question is:
is there any point, added value using AS splash after post shave balm or is it balm or splash only, is there any advantage to adding EDT after AS splash.
I should add that the shave soap, post shave balm aftershave splash and EDT would all be the same scent, sandalwood for example - all from the same company but if splash is pointless after post shave balm and the same for edt after the balm my shaves will get cheaper but I like to smell like I just shaved for the rest of the day.- - Steve

Thanked: 4830From my experience there are a few differences. The EDT is stronger and has more staying power and the aftershave splash is more of an astringent to help heal and care for your skin. Also a good EDT is quite a bit more loot and is used very sparingly. Others here likely have a deeper answer as I do have fairly limited experience.

Thank Shawn, the question is really I think, do I use post shave balm and splash or is it a case of one or the other.
I do fancy EDT but if the Balm seals my skin, splash or EDT may not work, or would they?
If splash is instead of Balm, the question is moot.- - Steve

I get your question, I think.
I'm more of a after shave lotion, guy. I don't care for strong, long lasting scents, like Edt's. If I want staying power, I go with a Cologne.
You could use the splash after a shave, the the Edt when your ready to go out.
Your choice, witch hazel would be cheaper than a AS, then you EdtMike

Thanked: 1083There are a few differences, as said an aftershave splash is an astringent that can help with micro abrasions, this will have a subtle scent. An aftershave balm will have the same properties but may also help calm the skin and be more nourishing. An EDT, EDP or cologne will not help condition the skin but will have the strongest, longer lasting scent.
It all comes down to what works for you and what you want to achieve.
If you have sensitive skin I'd use a balm or moisturiser then an EDP of your choice as a splash will dry your skin out, if you have skin like a rhino then a splash will do the job but will not nourish your skin.

Thanks Mark,
I went with splash and EDT, I have the balm for a lot of my soaps and fancied trying something different.
I have skin that you could shave with a broken bottle so I'm not too worried how kind the stuff is.
Ha lucky i have rhino hide on my face, the way I hone i need to hold the razor in both hands to shave- - Steve
