    Default Aloe

I saw that a fellow named Sid in the SOTD post used aloe leaf as part of his post shave routine thought it looked pretty interesting.

Anybody else ever try this? and what would be your recommended procedure for using an Aloe leaf. I have 2 giant aloe plants that I would like to put to some good use.

Used it last night. My shave didn't go so well on account of some Lime EO I added to my lather; just didn't work out well. It seemed to dry out the lather and caused me some razor burn. Post shave, I rubbed in a generous amount of aloe vera. It burned quite a bit, but it calmed the razor burn down quickly and healed my face nicely.

I know that aloe soothes skin but does it moisturize as well?

I really don't notice much moisture from the aloe vera gel, but that's just my personal experience.

Yes, aloe will moisturize to an extent.

Here's a good bit of info on aloe.

I recently tried out some Nancy Boy aftershave balm. Aloe is the first listed ingredient. It does a nice job of soothing shave burn. As far as moisturizing, soaps tend to dry my skin out but the balm takes care of that problem.

I use aloe lotion for any skin treatment. I don't know why but my skin heals extremely fast with aloe lotion.

My post shave is an aloe based aftershave with witchhazel, glycerin, and a few other things. I find it helps lots in the cold dry winter weather.

I posted the photo with the aloe leaf. To keep from having to go out and cut from the plant every shave, I cut out a long leaf and store it in the fridge. This keeps it from drying out and makes it really refreshing if applied cold.
