Bay Rum in Canada
Ok, I'm new to this "scents" thing... have never been able to wear after shave etc as it alwas seems strong enuf to gag. But.. now that I am a straight guy I have been dying to find a mild workable post shave product, and have read a lot about Bay Rum . I did manage to find a local Barber supplier in Winnipeg that carries a bay rum (part of the Canadian Booster Co Classic Barber supply line) in a big plain jane plastic squeeze bottle for $7.00. I love it! Its a great scent and its mild enough for me to wear. Now.. has anyone else used any of the Booster Co product and how does it compare to the real thing (Dominica etc)?

Thanked: 13246Yes just got a sample from an online store...
Booster has a good feel on the face, nothing wrong with it...
I don't rate scents as I haven't met a Bay Rum I dislike..

I have that, it's good. It is milder that most. Booster also makes Iced Lime, it has a wonderful scent to it, and feels good on your face....I like the Iced Lime better....

Can't say that I have tried the Booster Bay Rm. I do use the Polar Ice, though, which is supposedly their most popular scent.
As for the Iced Lime...It goes quite well with the J M Faser's shave cream--a related Canadian product.
I'm intrigued by your report. I'll have to get a bottle and compare it with my Dominica and Ogalala.Last edited by jhenry; 01-15-2010 at 03:01 AM.

Thanked: 1Where in Winnipeg is the barber supply store you mentioned? I'm in Winnipeg, and just starting to learn shaving with a straight razor, and it would be nice to know where I can find the various things I'll need in town. It seems like almost everything I'd want can only come from international shipping (i.e. the US).

Thanked: 4At the risk of turning this into a "Winnipeg" thread, there isn't much to offer here. Carriere's salon off West Broadway has Musgo Real shaving cream and AoS soaps and creams.
There's also a little german deli at 1032 Portage Ave, (corner of Sherburn, I think) called Portage Meats and Deli where you may find Speick, Tabac, and 4711 products. It's hit or miss.
Also, don't forget about Lee Valley Hardware for Norton and a few Japanese hones.
At to Boosters, I as curious to know as the previous Winnipeg poster.
Good luck,
Mike
