    Zaph,
Do you get the feeling everyone was so worried about the word "splash" that no one thought about what you was wanting to know? I use it and put a balm on later.

I got generic plain bottle at grocery. Seems to work good. Smells awful for a few seconds but dries quick so smell is gone.

According to medical benefits on label it will be a great aftershave.

Should be, but that depends upon you. Many people do. Try it as your sole aftershave splash. If it's not enough to soothe your skin as much as you'd like, follow it up with a balm, another A/S splash, or whatever other post-shave treatment you like.

    Default how about razor burn

i just shaved for the first time and got a nice razor burn or rash looking area on my neck. I have never had it before and was wondering if there is something to use to heal faster or prevent it all together?

Witch hazel is all I use , and I think it works just fine . Works for razor burn , too . Right now I'm using Dickinsons because I couldn't find the cheap generic stuff , which if you check the active and inactive ingredients you will find they are exactly the same . I prefer alcohol based , just in case I run out of bourbon .

I got this at the beginning too... It stops when you master using very light pressure on the skin. ..we're so used to dragging those disposables across our face that we tend to do the same with straights. Once you get pressure rdown there should be no redness.

I'm using only Pinaud Clubman After Shave Lotion for my post shave routine. I've noticed though that now in the winter when it's been colder my skin feels really dry. Should I try witch hazel or is there a good ASB or something I can use to rehydrate my skin that isn't oily? Also, should I be using Alum? My neck gets a little sensitive but it's not bad enough to prevent me from using the ASL above (alcohol based I believe).

If your skin is dry, you can use any good moisturizing lotion, this would include a good ASB. Witch hazel will do nothing for dry skin.
